FAQS-

1)  What should I expect during my first visit to Shen Wellness Centre?

The first session always starts with an intake. Depending on the type of therapy that you would like to have you will have to provide personal information about your clinical history.

You must fill in a health history form. The therapist will begin by asking you questions; he/she may perform certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition and to see if you have any presenting complaints.

2) What is a Body Ritual?

A body Ritual is an experience that combines different services in one. For example, a body scrub, followed by a wrap and a hydration massage or a facial massage.

3) How often should I have a body Ritual?

It is recommended to have a body Ritual a least once per week during the summer, to regenerate new skin cells.

4) Can I take the sunscreen after a body Ritual?

It is recommended to not take sunscreen in the first 24 hours after body rituals.

5) What do I do during a massage treatment?

Make yourself comfortable. If your therapist wants you to adjust your position, she/he will either move you or will ask you to move. Do not resist falling asleep; it is a normal reaction of the body which also makes the treatment more effective.

6) Is it normal to feel sore during the massage?

This depends on the type of massage and the condition of the muscles. A soft, relaxing massage that doesn’t probe very deep into the muscles, shouldn’t hurt. It is normal to feel more pressure during deep tissue massage.

7) How often should I get a massage?

Depends on the condition of your body. If you are looking for some relaxation, then a session every 4 weeks may be fine for you. However, if there is a certain health condition you would like to improve, then it is recommended to go every 2 weeks; sometimes more frequent 30-minute sessions can be effective in achieving your goals.

8) How do I know how often I need a massage?

The frequency of sessions should be discussed with your massage therapist after your session

9)Why do I feel exhausted the next day after the massage treatment?

If you received a deep massage, you may be slightly sore the next day – much like a good workout at the gym. After the treatment and in the night the muscles are relaxed; however, in the morning, when the toxins are eliminated from your body the muscles will become more sensitive. Sometimes a hot shower or a soak in the tub can ease this soreness.

10) When should I not get a massage?

You should not book a massage if you have a fever, cold/flu, or contagious skin infection. With some conditions, it is a good idea to get approval from your physician before you receive a massage.

11)What do I have to do after the massage?

After your session, you should increase your water intake a bit. Just a glass or two more than normal is usually fine. This helps keep your body’s tissues hydrated and healthy.

12)It is recommended to exercise after a massage.

Yes, if you have a sports massage.
